Basically, at the end of the day Americans lose. If, and only if, we were the only world exporter, then we could do what we want. But we’re not and that causes a problem. Other countries will benefit now and become first choice to fulfill import demands from other countries. They will hop on the bandwagon and show America that they are not needed. Then when Americans hurt from losing jobs, and paying higher prices, the downward spiral will continue. At the same time, all the items that America imports will have the same effect. We will pay higher cost and tariffs to bring goods in. Again, Americans will hurt. At the end of the day, it’s a stupid game to play.
Now, for all the people who voted for trump, that were promised a better life, more support, to make America great again. Not sure that’s happening. The ones who didn’t vote for him knew he was lying and that he wouldn’t take care of the things he said he would. Trump basically lied and bullshitted everyone at every angle, Republicans and Democrats and independents.
It will be interesting to see how much Americans will gain with these new imposed tariffs on both ends.
Just a note, in the construction industry, steel and and metals have skyrocketed and supplies are very low. It’s just the beginning and won’t let up…supplies will be very hard to come by soon.
